Actions speak loudest on Geno Smith's future

Seattle is doing exactly what you would expect it to do if it was going to keep Geno Smith the starter no matter what its coach and GM are trying to say.

To say I’m puzzled over the continued uncertainty of Geno Smith’s future with the Seahawks is not accurate.

I can see, given the answers general manager John Schneider and coach Mike Macdonald have provided about Smith over the past few weeks, why people are wondering just how committed the franchise is to Smith as the starter.

I’m of the firm opinion, however, that Seattle’s actions as they pertain to Smith and his contract provide a much stronger indication of the team’s intent as opposed to parsing the painfully vague answers that football men specialize in this time of year. It’s possible that I’m wrong, and that the lack of clarity from the Seahawks GM and head coach is a window into their actual thought process. I doubt it, though. Here’s why.
