Confession is good for the soul
I've been more open about my discomfort at being financially dependent on my partner than I have about the emotional toll of online criticism. Here's why I feel bad about that.
We went to a Manhattan brunch last Saturday with two other couples. The bill was delivered to the opposite end of the table, and when I saw Sharon take a peek inside the black check presenter, I assumed she was taking care of our third.
I’ve tried to get comfortable with this sort of thing over the past year. Sharon has covered most of our expenses since I stopped working at a Seattle sports radio station on Aug. 31, 2021. She doesn’t pay for everything, but most of it, including our biggest expense, which is rent.
