Did you get my last email?
We've got a new carrier here at The Dang Apostrophe, and I want to make sure delivery has gone smoothly.
Hopefully, you received this week’s oral history of Rick Neuheisel’s 2003 challenges in truth-telling.
If you did receive the email about Neuheisel, … AWESOME! It means that you received the newsletter just like you’re supposed to, please proceed to Go! by which I mean you can go directly to the bottom of the email where I’ve linked my two most-recent appearances on Mitch Unfiltered. Thank you for subscribing! I will see you again next week with your regularly scheduled programming.
If you did not see my last email about Neuheisel or the one before … ACK! I’ve got amends to make and a couple of things to discuss.
I’m sorry. This is likely related to the fact that I’m switching email service providers from Substack to Beehiiv, and this created some unanticipated issues in deliverability.
Please check the “Updates” or “Promotions” folder in your email, and then any Spam filters.
If you see an email from me in any of those folders, drag it into your main inbox. This will tell the little gremlins that sort our email that you want to be receiving this from me and they should place it in your main inbox.
Please reply to the email with the word “dang” and hit send. This will make sure those little gremlins know you want my email, and then I will also know to talk to you about how I’ll make it up to you.
If you don’t see any emails from me either from earlier this week or last week, respond to this email and then I’ll contact you directly to trouble shoot.
OK. To start with the catch-up work, here are the links to this week’s two-part history of the four days Neuheisel spent insisting he had not interviewed for a job he had — in fact interviewed for:
Part 1 | Part 2
I can’t emphasize just how grateful I’ve been for the people who’ve subscribed to the newsletter. The past two years have been fairly lonely in a professional sense, and while I am honestly excited about what I’m working on, it has been a hard road to get here, and this newsletter has been a very important community for me.
I also take very seriously the fact that I need to be providing something of value to my audience, and while I’ve never taken that for granted, I do believe I have a stronger sense of not just what I’m going to do, but how I’m going to do it.
As I mentioned, I’ve switched from Substack to Beehiiv. This should not change anything about the billing or content of the newsletter. There will, however, be some minor tweaks in terms of presentation. You’re going to be seeing more polls that I hope you’ll respond to but are certainly not required to.
The reason I switched is because Beehiiv affords more tools when it comes to growing the newsletter as a business and customizing the content according to the tastes of different segments of the audience.
I wouldn’t say that I’m starting to take this newsletter more seriously. I’ve always been very grateful to have people interested in reading what I write and tried to provide readers with something that is unique and reflective of my thoughts and sensibilities.
What I have now is a much clearer vision of what this newsletter can be both in terms of content and reach. Over the past month, I’ve been taking Matt McGarry’s course on newsletter growth, and while much of this focused on tactics for building a larger audience, that in turn is going to amplify both the kind of content you receive and the quality of it.
The second half of this year is going to be great. I’m absolutely certain of this, and I want to make sure that everyone who’s interested in receiving this newsletter in the spot they want it.
So again, if you missed this week’s:
I’m sorry

And finally, here are the last two episodes with Mitch Levy:
Employee 1 has been receiving the emails, though I don't recall seeing a Like or comment function.
Always good to hear that familiar cackle.
Thanks for the response. I’m getting the emails.
Also, I appreciate you turning back on the podcast spigot. I while I’m not an Ms or a Husky fan, I do love hearing you both talk sports.
Do you know if Beehiv has a mobile app? The newsletter presentation on the webpage has been a hard follow for me. I’m finding stuff, and getting to rest the content but the flow isn’t super easy to follow.
As always, love your work. You were a breath of fresh air when you joined radio and I’m grateful you still keep cranking out good sports content. 👍🏼
Be well.
