I checked in last week with not so much a plea for another bat in the Mariners lineup, but a demand.
We didn’t get it. We did however get some significantly improved production as the Mariners have scored five or more runs in five of the past eight games. That’s a significant improvement as they’d logged five or more runs just seven times over the first 18 games of the month.
Eugenio Suarez is showing flashes of remembering how to hit home runs. After hitting two in April, he’s hit four in May including the game-winner in the 10th inning against the Pirates on Sunday.
Here’s hoping Suarez is on the exponential improvement plan and he belts eight home runs in June, and while the Mariners lost 10-4 to the Yankees on Monday night, don’t let that overshow what has been a pretty good week for the team and we’ll start this week’s Mariner-a sauce with the most important thing for the team which is the awakening of the star centerfielder:
