Podcast: If you love something, set it free

Ben Baldwin, my economist friend, and someone with data-driven opinions and a deep conviction that Seattle should have let Russ do more joins the podcast for a reaction to all sides of this deal.

Ben Baldwin was gracious enough to take half an hour to talk with me on Wednesday, reacting to the trade of Russell Wilson.

Ben became known as my economist friend back in 2019 when he talked with me about an article on all the reasons it’s stupid to draft a running back in the first round. He is an economist, who moved to the East Coast in 2012 and found the Seahawks — and the enthusiasm that blossomed around the team — connected him back to his hometown. He’s been a heavyweight of Seahawks Twitter ever since then in addition to writing for The Athletic.

I love Ben’s perspective, and the way he builds data-driven opinions about what really matters in an NFL game. And he really is my friend. I send him a holiday card.

On the final day of Danny O'Neil's freshman year in high school, his height was recorded as 4 feet, 11 and one-half inches by the mean woman in charge of his P.E. class. He has never gotten over it. Well, that and a whole bunch of other things he rants about on a regular basis. So why don't you make like the apostrophe in his last name, and come hang out.
