Seattle's most likely draft path

I can come up with a lot of reasons why Seattle will pick Jalen Carter No. 5 overall. I can come up with almost as many why they won't.

Jalen Carter is the player I believe the Seahawks are most likely to choose with the fifth pick of this year’s NFL Draft.

That’s not as bold of a statement as it sounds, though. First of all, plenty of people think the Seahawks are going to pick Carter. Peter King – dean of NFL scribes – wrote, “It’s become almost a cliché, how many team officials think the Seahawks will take Carter with the fifth overall pick.” This was back on April 17.

Second, while I think that Carter is a more likely selection than any other player at that spot, I’m not sure it’s the most likely outcome, which is to say there’s at least a 50-percent chance that Seattle does something with the fifth pick other than draft the defensive tackle from Georgia. Buckle up, we’ve got a lot to sift through.
