Strange case of Dr. Geno and Mr. Smith
The precision of Seattle's game-winning drive on Sunday stood in stark contrast the self-induced debacle that ended the second quarter.
On Sunday, the Seahawks gained the most yards they have in any game this season.
Didn’t feel like it, though, did it?
The Seahawks failed to reach the end zone in the first half, and they had only two red-zone possessions though that total is a little misleading because it omits the third-quarter drive in which Seattle skipped over the red zone entirely, Kenneth Walker scoring on a 64-yard reception.
It was a game that – in many ways – reflects the puzzling reality that is Seattle’s offense so far this season. This is an offense capable of shooting itself in the foot, repeatedly, as it did on the final possession of the first half, and then — two quarters later — summoning the oomph necessary for a game-winning drive that makes you think they could be capable of making some noise down the stretch. It all depends on which version of Geno Smith we get.
