The rush to judgment and Jalen Carter

I'm not minimizing the actions of Georgia defensive lineman, I'm not just not magnifying them like I expect so many others will to blame him for the tragic outcome of a fatal crash.

Driving too fast is dangerous. Racing is even moreso. I want to make that clear so no one thinks I’m minimizing the actions of one of the top players available in this year’s draft.

Jalen Carter is a defensive lineman from Georgia, who – up until this week – was considered likely to be among the first four players chosen in a draft where the Seattle Seahawks hold the fifth overall pick. Before we get to whether Seattle should choose him, you need to know what happened with Carter not just this week but over the past few months.
