What we learned: Russell Wilson trade
No intense introspection here, the Seahawks trade tickled my curiosity to the point that I decided to slip back into my old role and have a look around at this deal.
The trade of Russell Wilson made me curious.
I understand this is not the reaction for most Seahawks fans, who ranged from blank-faced shock that this was actually a possibility to utter despondence over the fact the quarterback is gone without a successor lined up. Some expressed gratitude for Wilson. The angry and the optimistic were in the minority.
I found myself curious about what Seattle does next, and it’s the first time in a long while that I’ve felt this way about the franchise that I was paid to observe for 16 years. So I’m following that curiosity in Wednesday’s newsletter, and the podcast I’m going to record later this morning. For those who’ve become accustomed to the more intensely introspective tone of my newsletter, I’ll have an essay a little later this week on my relationship with newspapers, but for now, we’ve got some good ol’ fashioned sports mediaing here at “The Dang Apostrophe.”
Three things we learned
Seattle thinks Russell Wilson’s best days are behind him.
