The NCAA does not have a 'hot girl' problem. The NCAA has a problem because it won't create a system in which athletes are fairly compensated for their labor.
And the NCAA could’ve tackled this long ago and maybe avoided some of NIL’s “wild west” aspects. Instead, they ignored it in the name of the status quo—something else emblematic about our society.
I totally agree with this. The NCAA's refusal to change is what led to this being the first crack in the dam of its ridiculous insistence on this made-up standard of "amateurism." Its refusal to even consider change is exactly why there's a "Wild West" aspect.
I was and is against players getting paid. Call me naive (I’m only 19), but I always felt that you should separate college players from this type of compensation.
A few thoughts, though:
Although I am generally against players getting paid, we’ve gotten to a middle point in NIL’s development that this has to be taken to it’s logical conclusion. In a compromise like this, everybody loses.
Players should be allowed to go to the NFL earlier. Instead of NIL affecting basically every single player, this would make the Caleb Williams of the world who truthfully say “if I get injured in college, I’m missing out on millions” get proper compensation.
