Monday night mayhem
No one is going to put a frame around Seattle’s 24-3 victory over the New York Giants on Monday night, but I don’t think anyone in Seattle is going to forget it, either.
The Seahawks quarterback was limping and finger-pointing mad.
Their offensive line lost two its two starting guards, which left Evan Brown as the last man standing from the opening-day O-line and even he was playing a different position, having moved from center to left guard after Damien Lewis left with an injury.
Throw in a concussion suffered by Jamal Adams during the first series of his first game more than a year and you get an idea of just how discombobulated everything was Monday night in the swamps of New Jersey. The Seahawks are notorious for their inability to play anything resembling a normal football game under Peter Carroll, but this was kind of wild even against those standards.
And while I don’t think anyone is going to put a frame around Seattle’s 24-3 victory over the New York Giants, I don’t think anyone in Seattle is going to forget it, either.
This is the game where the entire country saw what a singularly destructive force cornerback Devon Witherspoon can be on defense. The fifth overall pick in the draft had two sacks and most importantly intercepted a pass at the goal line, which he then returned 97 yards to cinch the game to stop anyone in Seattle from pining for Jalen Carter at least for this week.
