I agree Danny, these are both great brands and great programs. I have lived in Seattle 30 years and have a daughter that is a senior at UW. I don’t like the Huskies on Oregon gameday but have no ill will at any other time. I do think these fan bases become more tolerant with each other in the Big10. It’s PNW against the mid west and those fans think they own college football. There would be nothing better than an Oregon or UW as the Big10 champ next year.
These two teams are a contrast in styles, my Ducks lost the first game fair and square. Most mature Duck fans are not underestimating the Huskies in this game. I give the Dawgs the edge in a close game as they deserve. It should be a great game and an instant classic. The Ducks are more talented and deep, but the Huskies are more explosive and have a better in game coach. I can’t wait to watch it.
It appears that I have painted Duck fans with too broad a brush, and honestly, I must admit that I underestimated how many Oregon fans have subscribed in spite of my unrelenting pro-Washington bias. I shouldn't have created a strawman because I think that while both fan bases have their extreme outliers, I do think the rivalry has become healthier in part because Washington fans such as myself can recognize that Oregon's recent success is not a flash in the pan nor some sort of aberration. It's a great program.
Oregon is talented and deep, and I believe the Ducks were stronger on both lines in the first meeting. I'm hopeful that Tuli Letuligasenoa will be on the field for 30-some plays as he makes a huge difference up front. It's going to be a great game!
I love your first paragraph! I am not extremely confident that the Huskies will pull it off, but I wouldn't be surprised. Point differential doesn't matter. They do enough to win. The call to go for it on 4th down at their own 29 yard line was one of the gutsiest calls I've ever seen. But I do have to disagree with your penultimate paragraph. Winning a national championship would be much better than beating Oregon again.
"but I’m not sure that watching Washington win a national championship would top the feeling that would come from beating the Ducks for the third time in 15 months"
I'm not an overconfident Duck fan. I worry a lot about our defensive backfield, which has been smoked even during our dominant run. USC certainly had chances and Caleb Williams had his moments. If we can limit the penalties, especially pass interference, I do like our chances.
Oh man. Now I feel bad about all my smarmy poor-mouthing of my own school. I thought that first meeting between the schools was one of the very best college football games I've ever seen. I think Oregon has a pretty incredible team this year. I'm glad the Pac-12 will be sending a team to the College Football Playoff this season, and I believe that having these two teams in this championship game is the best way to decide it. Here's hoping to a great game, and while I can't say that I'll be rooting for the Ducks should they reach the College Football Playoff, I can say without reservation that they absolutely 100 percent without-a-doubt deserve to go if they win Friday's game. Enjoy the game, Tiffaney!
I'm heartbroken that the Pac-12 is no more. What a tragedy. I'm trying to enjoy this last gasp. May the best team win. I'll definitely be rooting for all the Pac-12 teams this last time.

Go Ducks, you and your Butt Sniffer friends.
Yes! I hope the Dawgs have better aim than my Pop did when he was hunting chukar!
True that.

Here's to hoping we have the chance to compare those two situations!
agree - what a great 1st paragraph!

I liked your LAST paragraph.
It feels very good this morning!!
Let’s Go Huskies💜💛 And thanks for a great read.
