There was some national coverage of the Mets' woes too. My reaction was pretty much the same--why should anyone outside metro NYC care? (OK, a longtime Dodger fan cheered for the Mets during the 20 years she lived in Manhattan; now that she's back in SoCal, the Mets are back to #2.5 after Dodgers and Ohtani.)
As for the Ms' resurgence, I too am cautiously hopeful. Seems like signs of other team's recent deep playoff runs started bubbling in May (see 2019 Nats), but Ms are still in the "anything can happen" part of the calendar. Would be nice if they end up meriting more than just a footnote during Seahawks training camp.
Let’s not forget the Strasberg fiasco of a few yrs ago. M’s had a shit season, but of course had to sweep the last series of the year (v the As’s, I think) and lose out on Strasberg #pathetic
