I usually recoil at the personal stuff but this was riveting. And you seriously need to write it.

Always enjoy your sports takes but care more about you as a person. Thanks for being willing to share so much about yourself. Still miss Danny, Dave, and Bee Venom guy. ;)

Excellent article. I really connect with people that can share their personal stories and be vulnerable and honest at the same time. I remember the first time I heard you on 710, you were a guest, and I thought to myself this person is a breath of fresh air and I have followed and listened to you ever since. I look forward to reading anything you publish!

I really appreciate the honesty and vulnerability in this piece. I don't want you to have to make hay with reliving all your past trauma, but as a person with their own trauma it helps me to not feel alone in some of the things we have experienced and I thank you for that.

Thank you for your writing, and thank you for talking with me on Twitter and helping me with my fear and anger about what happened on Jan 6. Your kindness and compassion come through in how you interact with people. Similarly, the anger at those who have mistreated you and those around, is very easy to identify with, buy your wisdom or kindness comes through by know when to air those.

Just thank you, Danny.

Thanks for opening up Danny. You have a gift with words and even more of a gift with sharing your heart/struggles/journey. I hope you do more of this kind of writing and I will buy all of your books in the future. We don’t know each other, but always feel a bit of a connection from listening to you on 710 all of those years and starting UW in the fall of 93. After growing up in Seattle and going to UW, I have lived on the East Coast since 99, but Seattle sports radio has always been my connection to home! Thanks for being a part of that!

You did good work with this. I appreciate your honesty and willingness to “ go there” in both your writing and various takes on issues which aren’t sports related.

May this piece help you find peace regarding your stepfather.

Very nice article. It was interesting to me that your writing was the opposite of cathartic, people always state the opposite, I'm glad it sounds like the new project is being more successful. Finally, I have to say, give yourself a break. fifteen and sixteen year olds are still kids and can't be expected to be adults or do adult things. You were doing your best to survive as a really difficult time for a young man while also finding your place in the world and you did the best that YOU could. Keep on keeping on brother and know every day is another chance to do better.

I will be among the first to buy your book when you're done writing and collecting. And hey, if you need beta readers, let me know; I'm not professional but I've in various critique groups for years.

Interesting stuff, Danny. Hadn't known much about your journey after your Dad passed.

Great talking to you, as well.

I'll be in touch.

That was a really good piece. Family stories are almost always complicated, but you presented the background and story very effectively. I like good writing, whether it is sports or personal essay or commentary, i.e. your recent piece on Monday's Buffalo game. You'll just have to figure out whether you want two newsletters or not.

I’ve always enjoyed your writing and radio insights. You came across to me as a precocious kid asking interesting questions and providing thoughtful insights. I saw you as

a college kid sitting across from Don James or Pete Carroll. Today your voice cracked and I liked what I read. I think you’re going to like your new voice too. Keep up the hard work. Your inherent talent will undoubtedly pay off.

Danny - Thanks for all of this. I know we all benefit when we each share ourselves and how we've been shaped through life. This took strength to write.
